birthday update

went to northumberland to alnwick (aln-ick) to the alnick gardens.
stumbled across a farmers market closing up and bought a homemade mince pie. not so good, but nice to know that from a proper example, rather than the boxed variety from the supermarket. then found the gardens. they have a poison garden, full of, yep, poisonous plants. tour guide was dressed as a witch.
proceeded to the world's largest treehouse. lovely. especially with caramel shortbread and colourful foliage.
ea called while i was waiting for my train. so good to hear from her.
had dinner with felicity at david bann. such good food. ordered a dacqueri (sp?) and made it through about ten sips. alcohol tastes like cough syrup.
bed soon.

  1. Technically, cough syrup tastes like alcohol as that's one of the main ingredients...Sounds like you had a nice day, I'll take you out for dinner if you ever come here and you can have some good italian wine, which, unlike mixed drinks, does not taste like cough syrup. I do agree with you though. I went out for an aperitivo with my roomies and not wanting to be the only one who asked to see a drink list, I ordered what everyone else ordered ("Spriz" which I assumed would be like a sprizer, not so) and it was really terrible, like the cheap store brand of cough syrup.

  3. yay! you drank! i will have to tell chris and aaron...they will be so proud! and alcohol does NOT taste like cough syrup! the scots just don't know how to do anything but whiskey/scotch/ale...when you come down to austin we are going to do 6th street and the bartenders will convince you that alcohol is the best thing ever! (well, maybe not the best thing but really, really good :D)
and your day sounds perfect...kinda/really jealous about the treehouse...that sounds fantastic!
